DirectTV transmits a
a "non-standard" Transport Stream that consists of 130
byte packets versus the 188 byte packets of MPEG-2
(the DSS multiplex format is specified in ITU-R BO.1294
System B).
The video portion of the bitstream is standard MPEG-2 video and the audio portion
is either standard MPEG-1 stereo or AC-3.
